Merge Duplicate Products and SKUs So One Item Has One Stock Count

Category: Products & Listings•Last updated: 10/15/2026

If the same item is listed as two products in Indexync, use Merge on the duplicate on the Products page. The item then has one stock count instead of two. Your marketplace listings stay live and keep their own titles and photos, and only stock changes on the marketplaces. If the duplicate is two SKUs (the codes for each size or colour) of one product, such as S and Small, use Merge SKUs inside that product. Merge SKUs can't be undone: it removes one SKU and keeps the other SKU's stock count.

Applies to: All plans. New SKUs that a merge creates count toward your plan's SKU limit, the same way an import does.

Before you start

  • Permission. Team members need Manage access in the Catalog section of their role. Without it the row menu arrow, Move and Merge SKUs are locked, and hovering over them shows "Permission required".
  • The product you keep must not be a draft or a bundle. Bundles and drafts can't be merged yet.

Which Tool Fixes Your Duplicate?

Pick the tool by what is duplicated. For the difference between a product and a listing, see What's the Difference Between a Product and a Listing?.

How Do I Merge Two Products Into One?

Merging moves the duplicate's listings onto the product you keep without uploading anything again.

  1. Go to Products in the sidebar.
  2. On the row of the duplicate product you no longer want, click the arrow beside Edit, then choose Merge.
  3. In the Merge Into Another Product window, tick the listings to move. Every listing is ticked to start, except one deleted on its marketplace.
  4. Click the product you want to keep, then click Next.
  5. Check which SKU each marketplace option lands on, choose the stock, and click Move. The button shows how many listings it will move.

Products table with the actions menu open on the Cotton Tee row, showing Duplicate, Merge and Delete

Step 1 shows the duplicate and its listings to move on the left, and the products you can keep on the right, each with an icon per store it sells on. Products that can't be picked are dimmed, with the reason under the name.

Merge window step 1: Cotton Tee on the left with My TikTok SG ticked, Classic Cotton T-Shirt selected on the right, and one dimmed product showing Different variation structure

Step 2 is where you check the pairing and choose the stock. The product you keep supplies the product details (name, description, main photos and prices). The table has one row per SKU of the product you keep, and a column for each store you're moving. For each option a moved store sells, pick the SKU of the product you keep that it matches.

Merge window step 2: stock choice on Sum of Stores, a table with Indexync and My TikTok SG columns, Final Qty 53, 65, 38 and 4, and the delete checkbox ticked

If a row can't be matched, leave its Indexync cell as No SKU Matched and Indexync creates a new SKU on the product you keep. The table works like the one in How to Manually Choose Which Products and Stores to Import.

Example: Cotton Tee also sells XL (4) on TikTok Shop, and the T-Shirt has no XL. You leave that row as No SKU Matched. The T-Shirt gets a new XL SKU with 4 in stock, sold on TikTok Shop and shown as Skipped on Shopee and Lazada.

The Move button stays greyed out while step 2 shows a block. The listings move all at once or not at all, so a failed move changes nothing.

How Do I Move One Listing to Another Product?

Move works like Merge but starts from one listing, so you shift a single store's listing without touching the others.

  1. Go to Listings in the sidebar.
  2. On the listing's row, click the arrow beside Edit, then choose Move.
  3. In the Move Listing to Another Product window, that listing is ticked and its sibling listings are not. Pick the product to keep and continue as in the steps above.

Move is greyed out when the listing's product is a bundle or a draft, or when the listing was deleted on its marketplace. The listing's History comes with it. See Manage Your Product Listings Across Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop and Shopify for the rest of the Listings page.

Which Stock Does the Merged Product Keep?

At the top of step 2 you choose one stock setting, and it applies to every row (it only appears when at least one row has a choice). Source Store keeps the stock number of the product you keep, while Sum of Stores adds the duplicate's stock to it. Final Qty shows each row's result, which is sent to every store that sells the merged SKU.

Example: You merge Cotton Tee into Classic Cotton T-Shirt and pair TikTok's S and M with the T-Shirt's S and M. With Source Store, S stays 48 and M stays 62 on all three stores. With Sum of Stores, S becomes 53 and M becomes 65. L isn't sold on TikTok Shop, so it stays 38 and shows as Skipped there once the merge is done.

Some rows follow their own rule, whichever setting you pick.

RowWhat it ends up with
SKU paired with one of the duplicate's SKUsSource Store: the kept SKU's current stock. Sum of Stores: the kept stock plus the duplicate SKU's stock, counted once even if two moved stores sell it.
Paired SKU the duplicate still usesSum of Stores isn't available. The row keeps the kept SKU's stock, and a line under the table says why. This happens when a listing you didn't move still sells the duplicate's SKU, a bundle uses it, or it is in a linked stock group.
SKU that is part of a linked stock groupNo stock choice, because the linked stock decides (see Can I Share One Stock Pool Across Pack Sizes or Bundle SKUs?). Final Qty reads Uses linked stock, with a number in brackets.
SKU set to per-store stockThe moved store gets its own per-store amount, or 0 if none is set. Set it on the Inventory page.
New SKU (row left as No SKU Matched)Starts with the duplicate SKU's stock, in either setting.
On a product with two or more options, a combination no store sells yet (shown as Skipped, with 0 stock) that a moved listing is paired ontoIt goes live with the duplicate SKU's price, seller SKU and stock, in either setting. If it is in linked stock or per-store stock, it keeps that rule (Uses linked stock or Set per store).
Extra SKU created only to complete a two-option tableStarts at 0. For example, adding the colour Red also needs Red in each size, and only the sizes you sell come with stock.

Example: Cotton Tee sells on My Shopee MY and My TikTok SG, and you move only the TikTok listing. The S row can't use Sum of Stores, because Cotton Tee's S still sells on Shopee MY, so it keeps the T-Shirt's 48. The new XL SKU starts at 4 while Cotton Tee's XL keeps its 4 for Shopee MY, so one shelf has two counts. Move the Shopee MY listing too, or correct one count on the Inventory page.

If a number isn't right, edit stock on the Inventory page afterwards. See Update Stock Quantities - individually or in bulk and See and manage stock for every marketplace in one place.

What Happens to the Duplicate, Its Listings and Its Orders?

  • Listings. Each keeps its own title, photos, video, settings, pre-order setting and version history.
  • New SKUs. They appear on the product you keep, and its variation options grow to match (for example Colour gains Red). The product's other stores show them as Skipped, meaning switched off, so those stores don't start selling them.
  • The duplicate product. When every listing moved and the delete checkbox is ticked (it is by default), the duplicate is deleted from Indexync only. Your marketplace listings are not removed. If you untick it, the duplicate stays with no listings and keeps all its SKUs and stock. If a bundle uses one of its SKUs, the checkbox is greyed out and the duplicate is kept.
  • Linked stock. If other products draw stock from a SKU of the duplicate and you delete it, the window asks you to tick a box confirming those products lose their stock link before you can continue.

Orders Placed Before a Merge

Orders keep the SKU they were placed on, so a later refund or cancellation can behave differently.

  • Duplicate deleted. A refund or cancellation of an order placed before the merge returns no stock to any SKU. Add it back on the Inventory page.
  • Duplicate kept, or only some listings moved. That stock returns to the duplicate's SKU, not the merged one.
  • After Merge SKUs. A refund of an earlier order on the SKU you removed may be credited to another SKU of the same product, not necessarily the one you kept, and a cancellation returns to no SKU. Check the counts on the Inventory page.

Example: A TikTok buyer ordered a Cotton Tee M last week. You merge today with the duplicate deleted, and the buyer is refunded tomorrow. That unit isn't added back to any SKU, so add 1 to the T-Shirt's M on the Inventory page.

How Do I Merge Two SKUs Inside One Product?

Merge SKUs joins two SKUs of the same product into one, so a single count replaces two. It fits the case where an older import created a second SKU for the same option, for example S and Small.

Indexync suggests pairs for you. On the Master Product tab, a Duplicate SKUs card lists the pairs it thinks are the same item, and their rows carry a Possible duplicate label. On the Products page, those products show a Duplicate SKUs label, and the status filter can show only them.

A pair is suggested when no store sells both SKUs and one option name contains the other, such as 200g inside S - 200g. For names that don't match this way, use the Merge SKUs button at the right of the Add SKU Images row. It appears on products with variations and at least two SKUs.

The card is only a suggestion and never merges anything by itself. Check each pair first, and choose Not the same item to hide a wrong one for everyone on your account.

  1. Open the product and click Review on the pair, or click Merge SKUs to choose two SKUs yourself.
  2. Under Merge and remove, pick the SKU that goes away. Under Keep, pick the SKU that stays. Review fills in both and keeps the one that sells on more stores, while the button starts both empty.
  3. Read the summary at the bottom of the window.
  4. Click Merge SKUs.

Merge SKUs window with Small chosen under Merge and remove, S chosen under Keep, and a summary line saying My TikTok SG will move to S

  • Stock. The kept SKU keeps its own stock. The removed SKU's stock is discarded (only your stock history records it), and the kept number is sent to the stores that move over. There is no Source Store or Sum of Stores choice here.
  • Keeping an unsold combination. On a product with two or more options, a combination no store sells yet (shown as Skipped, with 0 stock) takes the removed SKU's price, seller SKU and stock when a store moves onto it. If it uses per-store stock, it keeps its per-store amounts. On a product with one option, keeping an unsold SKU keeps its 0 and discards the other SKU's count. An unsold combination can't be chosen under Merge and remove.
  • Store option names. Each store keeps its own option name, so 200g stays 200g on Lazada. In the product's variation table, a store's option name can be renamed only where its order lines up with the product's (see Editing & Updating Products & Listings).
  • The removed row. It is deleted with its price and cost price. On a product with two or more options it stays as a combination with 0 stock when the table still needs it, for example Red in size M.

Example: Classic Cotton T-Shirt has S on Shopee and Lazada (48) and Small on TikTok Shop (20), created by an old import. The Duplicate SKUs card lists S and Small. You click Review and keep S, and the summary says My TikTok SG will move to S and use its stock of 48. After the merge, TikTok Shop still calls the option Small, and shows 48.

What Can Block a Merge?

Each block shows a message that tells you what to fix. Only short fixed messages are quoted. Stores are named by the nickname you gave them, for example My TikTok SG.

Troubleshooting

Merge or Move is greyed out

Hover over the item to see the reason, then find it in the table above or here.

  • "Permission required": your role lacks Manage access in the Catalog section.
  • Merge SKUs greyed out with unsaved changes: the product window has changes you haven't saved. Save or discard them first.
  • "Drafts can't be merged yet" or "Bundles can't be merged yet": Merge and Move aren't available for drafts or bundles yet.
  • Nothing to move: a product with no listings has nothing to move, so start from the product that has them.

The product I want isn't in the list

Products that can't be picked stay in the list, dimmed, with the reason under the name. A draft isn't listed at all.

The merge failed or didn't finish

A failed move changes nothing, so you can try again. If Indexync couldn't finish removing the duplicate, run the merge again. If it couldn't delete it, delete it from the Products page and choose Indexync only. See Delete a Product Without Taking Down Your Live Listings.

FAQ

Will merging delete or change my marketplace listings?

No. The listings move to the product you keep without being uploaded again, and keep their own titles, photos and version history (the record of past edits to each listing). The only change on the marketplaces is stock, which is sent so every store shows the same count.

Why can't I pick Sum of Stores for some rows?

The duplicate's SKU for that row is still in use, because a listing you didn't move still sells it, a bundle uses it, or it's in a linked stock group. Adding its stock would count the same units twice, so the row keeps the stock of the product you keep.

Can I undo a merge?

There is no undo button. You can move a listing back to another product with Move. Merge SKUs is permanent: the removed SKU is gone, and only your stock history records its old count.
