Editing & Updating Products & Listings

Category: Products & ListingsLast updated: 9/2/2026

Edit a product in Indexync and the change syncs to every listing that's still following the master, on every connected marketplace. Need one store to look different, for example a translated name? Switch just that field to Custom on that store's tab, and every other store keeps using the master value. To change the same thing across many products or listings at once, use Bulk Actions instead of opening each product one by one.

Applies to: All plans. Bulk Actions needs the Lite plan or higher; see the note under Bulk update below.

Editing one product

  1. Go to Products in the sidebar.
  2. Find the product and click the pencil (edit) icon in its row's Actions column.
  3. Make your changes on the Master Product tab (name, description, images, price, dimensions, variations) or on any marketplace tab.
  4. Click Update Product.
  5. A confirmation window opens with a per-store breakdown of what's about to change. Click Confirm & Sync.

Each store updates at the same time. The window shows progress per store, then the result. If a store fails, click Retry on that row. If nothing changed since your last save, the window shows "No changes to sync" and stops instead of opening.

Master vs Custom: standardizing or overriding per channel

Each editable field on a marketplace tab carries a Master or Custom badge. Master means the field inherits the master product's value; Custom means you've overridden it for that one store.

Click the badge to switch a field to Custom, or open the field's comparison panel to see the master value next to every connected store's value at once. From the comparison panel:

  • Follow master value switches one store back to inheriting.
  • All channels follow master switches every store back at once.
  • Make this master value (Product Name and Package Dimensions only) promotes one store's override into the new master value; every store still inheriting picks it up.
  • Copy overrides to all {channel} stores (shown when a channel has 2+ of your stores) applies the same override to each store, so you don't repeat it by hand.

Example: your master product name is "Classic Cotton T-Shirt". For your Lazada Indonesia listing you want a localized name. On the Lazada tab, click the Master badge on Product Name to switch it to Custom, type "Kaos Katun Klasik", and save. Every other store keeps using the English master name.

Editing one listing only

  1. Open the product and click the tab for the store you want to change.
  2. Switch the relevant fields from Master to Custom and enter the store-specific values.
  3. Click Update Product, tick only that store in the confirmation window, and click Confirm & Sync.

Other stores aren't affected. See Managing Listings for listing-page-level edits.

Bulk update: changing many products or listings at once

Open Bulk Actions on the Products page toolbar and choose Bulk update listings. The button is always there, whether or not you've ticked any products first; product selection happens inside the wizard itself.

Bulk Actions needs the Lite plan or higher. On Free, edit products one at a time using the Edit Product editor above instead.

Products page with the Bulk Actions dropdown open, showing Expand to marketplaces, Bulk update listings, Import Costs (Excel/CSV), and Delete products

The wizard walks through five steps:

  1. Select Target. Choose Master Product (edits cascade to every store listing of each product you select) or one specific connected store (edits apply only to that store's listings).
  2. Select Products. Search or filter, then tick the products or listings you want to update.
  3. Category. Shown only when you picked a channel store and it isn't Shopify. Choose No category or attributes change to keep each listing's current category, or Update {channel} category for all selected products to move every selected listing to one new category at once; the wizard then shows that category's required attributes so you fill them once instead of per listing.
  4. Edit. A spreadsheet-style editing table: paste from a TSV column (Excel, Google Sheets) into a single column of cells, drag a value down a column to fill the cells below it, and use the per-row Reset button to undo one row's edits. Some columns (images, video) are read-only.
  5. Review & Sync. Confirm the changes and click Confirm & Sync to push everything at once.

Example: you've decided to add a new sizing line to every product description. Open Bulk Actions → Bulk update listings, choose Master Product as your target, select the products you want updated, edit the description in the editing table, and confirm. The change cascades to every store listing of every selected product.

Bulk Update Listings editing table with Master Product target: one row per product with a Price cell mid-edit at $19.00

Products that can't go in this run

Before the editing table opens, Indexync checks each selected product against your target and excludes any it can't update there: no listing on the store you're targeting, no synced listings at all (when your target is Master Product), every listing currently locked by the marketplace, or a product that failed to load. A banner above the editing table names how many were excluded and why, with a View excluded link listing each one by name. Excluded products don't block the rest; everything still eligible proceeds through the editing table as normal.

If Sync or Retry skips a product

When you click Confirm & Sync (or Retry on a failed row), Indexync re-checks each product's category attributes before sending anything to the marketplace. A product with an invalid attribute, for example a missing date or a quantity entered without a unit, is skipped: its row shows the reason, and the rest of the selected listings still sync.

A line above the results reads "N of M skipped, fix and retry.", where N is how many were skipped and M is how many were attempted. Open the flagged listing, fix the field the row names, and use Retry.

The same pre-sync attribute check applies when creating listings through Bulk Actions' Expand to marketplaces, not just Bulk update.

Wholesale tier pricing and cost prices

Wholesale tier pricing (buy-more-pay-less pricing bands) is a Shopee-only feature; it doesn't apply to Lazada, TikTok Shop, or Shopify listings, in the bulk editing table or anywhere else in Indexync. It's also only available in the editing table when every variation on a listing shares the same price; if prices differ across variations, that listing's Wholesale Pricing cell stays unavailable until you equalize them.

Cost price (what a unit costs you to buy or make) isn't part of this wizard. Use Bulk Actions → Import Costs (Excel/CSV) instead, or set it per product in the Edit Product editor. See Set Your Cost Prices for both options.

Deactivating without deleting

Three options let you pause selling temporarily without losing any data. Pick the level that matches what you want to pause. All three are reversible; to stop selling permanently, see Deleting Products instead.

Product

Hides the product from every connected store. Toggle the product's status on the Products page from Active to Inactive.

Listing

Hides one store's listing only; other stores keep selling. Open the Listings page, find the listing, and toggle its status to Inactive.

SKU

Excludes one specific SKU from one specific store's listing; other SKUs and other stores keep selling. Open the Edit Product editor, go to the relevant store tab, and set the SKU's row to Skipped in the variation table.

Example: you're running low on stock for one product and want to pause it on Lazada only, without affecting Shopee or your Shopify store. Open the Listings page, find the Lazada listing, set status to Inactive, save. Lazada hides the listing; Shopee and Shopify keep selling. Reactivate the Lazada listing when stock is back.

Two edge cases when saving

Product in an active promotion. If a SKU is in a scheduled or ongoing promotion, changing its price is blocked. Indexync surfaces this as Sync blocked — product is in active promotion. This check runs for Shopee, Lazada, TikTok, and Shopify alike. Wait for the promotion to end, or cancel it first, then update the price.

Shopee promotion lock. Shopee also checks its own live promotions on the item, separately from the block above. For most Shopee promotion types this locks the price too, along with variation prices and variation structure; category usually stays editable. Which fields stay editable depends on the promotion type running on Shopee. If a field won't save, check whether the product is in a Shopee promotion and either wait for it to end or cancel it first.

Category change auto-clear. If you change a marketplace category mid-edit, fields that don't apply to the new category are cleared. A message confirms what was removed; fill any required fields for the new category before saving.

Plan SKU limit

If your edit increases the variation count past your plan's SKU cap, a SKU Limit notice blocks the save. Reduce variations or upgrade your plan in Settings → Billing. See Viewing & Troubleshooting Your Plan Usage for usage details. Indexync supports up to 2 variation options per product.

Troubleshooting

Update Product is greyed out or does nothing

The product is missing a required field. Check that a name is filled and at least 1 image is uploaded. Look for red-asterisk fields on any marketplace tab.

The confirmation window shows no stores to sync

Your edits may already match what's saved, or no stores are ticked. Confirm your changes are applied and at least one store is selected.

Sync failed on one or more stores

Open the failed store's tab, fix any red-asterisk fields, and click Update Product again. If the error persists, check the store's connection at Settings → Connections.

For Shopee specifically, a failure isn't always a red-asterisk field: it can also be a shipping option Shopee no longer offers. See A Shopee shipping option is no longer offered below.

A Shopee shipping option is no longer offered

Shopee can withdraw a delivery option from your shop at any time. When that happens, Indexync drops the retired option and syncs the rest of your changes instead of letting the whole update fail. You'll see it in one of three places:

  • Before you save: in the Shopee tab, the retired option is labeled Unavailable option (no longer offered by this shop, will be skipped on sync). Replace it there.
  • During a sync: the result names what was dropped: One shipping option was skipped because Shopee no longer offers it for this store. Your other shipping options are unchanged.
  • If every option is retired: the save stops with None of the delivery options saved for this listing are offered by your Shopee shop any more. Choose new ones before syncing. In the Bulk Update editing table the row shows as Blocked until you choose new options.

A product I expected in the bulk editing table isn't there

Click View excluded on the banner above the editing table. It's most often "No listing on {channel}" (the product isn't listed on the store you targeted) or "All listings hard-blocked" (every listing is currently locked by the marketplace). Fix the underlying issue, or pick a different target, and run the update again.

Replacing or removing a variation image on a live listing

To change one variation's photo on a live listing: open the store's tab, replace the photo, and click Update Product. If a change would leave a variation without a usable photo (you removed one, or a photo fails the size check), the save is blocked:

  • Lazada, Shopee, and TikTok Shop require either every variation to have a picture or none at all. Indexync names the affected variation before sending anything: Variation image for "Sunglasses" could not be used, so only some variations would have a picture. Lazada needs at least 330x330 pixels and requires either every variation to have a picture or none at all. Replace that image with a larger one, then retry.
  • The row shows Blocked, and a plain retry won't clear it. Replace the flagged photo with one that meets the minimum size, then sync again.
  • List without variation images only appears when creating a listing. The marketplaces don't allow removing variation images from a live listing, so on a live listing keep every variation's photo working.

A pasted description image can't be hosted

You can paste images directly into the description in both the product editor and the bulk description editor. Images copied from another website are automatically re-hosted on Indexync's servers; if one can't be hosted, an inline error appears and that image is skipped. For TikTok Shop, a description containing an image that can't be hosted blocks the sync with a clear message: remove the image or re-add it using the image button.

FAQ

If I edit the product, do all listings change?

Only the listings still set to Master for that field. Any store you've switched to Custom for that field keeps its own override; editing the master doesn't overwrite it.

How do I change just one marketplace's version?

Open the product, click that store's tab, switch the field you want to change from Master to Custom, and enter the store-specific value. Other stores aren't affected.

How do I update many products at once?

Use Bulk Actions → Bulk update listings on the Products page. It walks you through choosing a target (master fields or one channel store), selecting products, and editing them in a spreadsheet-style editing table before you confirm.

Why didn't my edit appear on a marketplace?

A few common causes: the field is still set to Custom on that store (so it's ignoring your master edit on purpose), the store wasn't ticked in the confirmation window, or the sync failed and needs a Retry. Check the store's tab for red-asterisk fields and its connection status under Settings → Connections.

Can I undo an override back to the master?

Yes. Open the field's Custom badge, then click Follow master value on that store's row (or All channels follow master to reset every store at once). The field goes back to inheriting from the master product.
